Herod's Gate

In Hebrew and Arabic, this is known as Flowers Gate, supposedly because of the rosette carved over the gate. In Arabic, however, the word "flower" is similar to "awakened" which suggests an association with a hope for resurrection connected to the nearby cemetery. It has nothing to do with King Herod.
