Taajeel Street
Walking distance from another nighttime bazaar, Taajeel has a busy street of vendors. During the day it is mostly retail, but at night you will find people hanging out drinking tea until late.
This bazaar is the core of the historic Taajeel neighbourhood (Kurdish گەڕەكی تعجیل; Arabic حي التعجيل) and is said have been inhabited by Jews, but that is likely an exaggeration. With no firm indications, it is unclear who were the historic residents of the now-vacant area. Despite the urban legend that these crumbling homes were once occupied by Jews, sources might simply be confusing this area with another ruined area in nearby Khanaka neighbourhood, which a conflicting lore also says was the Jewish quarter.
