Peshmerga statue

This 21m tall sculpture is dedicated to the Peshmerga who were martyred during the fight against ISIS. It was completed in 2017 but the Kurdistan flag was taken down in October when the city returned to Iraqi control. The image was seared into popular conscience as a symbol of defeat.
