At the summit of a 20 minute hike, these stunning Neo-Assyrian reliefs are attributed to Assyrian king Sennacherib, who reigned BCE - BCE. They are mostly intact despite vandals and nature. There are four identical reliefs: six gods (Ashur, Anilil, Seen, Sun, Ishtar, and Adid) and the throned king, all depicted atop animals. The are two priests: one facing them and one behind them These reliefs are part of the sacred and political Assyrian geography of the city, and directly overlook an ancient Assyrian archaeological mound. However, is unclear what they commemorated.
