Darbandok
The village Darbandokeh is blessed with 4th century ruins of the Assyrian churches Mar Odisho and Mar Bawai.
Studies
I went to Darbandok to see the ancient churches, but upon arrival I was surrounded by village men and told there were no Christians, no churches, and nothing to see. I was quickly brought in for a short lunch and various photos, then given a cursory tour before being shepherded away to Harir to catch a taxi home. However, because the village I saw was on the right, I think it may have actually been Gulak, misidentified by the villagers themselves, by the map (which shows it on the left), or something else. | |
