Khabur River

Midway [between Mosul and Erbil] flows the stream El Kebir, which forms the boundary between the Pachalic of Mosul and Bagdad: it is a mighty rushing stream, which empties itself into the Tigris. The water abounds with an immense number of a reddish kind of fish, said to be excellent eating; some of them attain a weight of 200 lbs. Benjamin II (1859), p 88
