At sunset we came to Bervary, a district inhabited by Nestorians and Kurds; and without making any application for quarters, I rode up to the Bishop's residence, and dismounted. His Lordship did not at first feel inclined to admit me into his house, but when I told him I was an English missionary, he was quite delighted, and endeavoured to make me as comfortable as his circumstances would permit.
