Shrine at Shush
Located in the midst of the upper castle at Shush, there is a shrine inside which are two chambers, each with two or three graves. Beneath the shrine is a cave.
There is a Star of David at the entrance, but the apparent Ottoman origins of the shrine suggest an Islamic (not a Jewish) association. In modern times, the Star has perhaps forged an incorrect but nostalgic link between the shrine and the Jewish community which at one time truly did comprise a portion of the village below.
