The village atop Mount Permam has been so popular as a destination and thoroughfare for Arab tourists that is now known as Masif, from the Arabic word for a summer resort.

Aside from the names Pirmam and Masif, the mountaintop village is also known by the Kurdish name Serbn, and the old Arabic/Ottoman name Salahaddin.
