Takia of Abdulaziz Gilani • مهزاری شێخ عبدالعزیز • ضريح الشيخ عبد العزيز
This shrine and takia is dedicated to Sheikh Abdulaziz. He was the son of Sheikh Abdulqadir Gilani, and participated in the conquest of Jerusalem led by Saladin. He died in 1205 CE.
Tens of thousands of pilgrims visit annually. On Fridays there is a meal at noon and pounding, musical worship in the afternoon.
Today the shrine is at the end of a lush, tree-filled valley. On the way to the shrine is a beautiful riverside road and a hiking path that includes ruins.
