Tel Lachish • תל לכיש‎ • تل الدوير

Lachish is the capital of the Assyrians in Judah, making it the second most important city of Judah. Lachish is highlighted in the conquest reliefs in Sennacherib's Palace at Nineveh. The site is impressively high and had a fortified entrance, and to enter, one must take a winding, circuitous route. Reliefs at the palace in Nineveh provide graphic reliefs of conquest and destruction wrought by Assyria.
