Marie Curie

Born in Warsaw in 1867, Marie was a physicist and chemist who was a pioneer in conducting research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the only person to ever win two Nobel Prizes. She won her first Nobel Prize in 1903 for her work in physics, and her second Nobel Prize in 1911 for her work in chemistry. Naturalized as a French citizen, she was also the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris.
