Jerwan aqueduct ruins • جه‌روانه‌ • جروانة

The Bavian-Khazir canal included an aqueduct of concrete and stone to crossed over a deep wadi (seasonal streambed). Located near Jerwan village, the ruins are called the Jerwan aqueduct. The aqueduct is over 9m tall, 22m wide, and 280m long. It used 2 million stone blocks, each averaging 50x50x65cm. This type of monumental structure is unknown elsewhere before Roman times.

It was an aesthetic design and an expression of the empire's power, with smooth concrete surfacing on top to conduct water, and decorative facing on the side with monumental cuneiform inscriptions.
