Alexander Mosaic (destroyed) • فسيفساء اسكندر

This was a rendition of the 1st century BC 'Alexander Mosaic' discovered at Pompeii, commemorating Alexander's victory over the Persians at the Battle of Gaugamela near Erbil. The mosaic and the whole wall behind it was all destroyed around the end of 2017.

Accompanying the mosaic are bronze statues and fountains, giving the opportunity to reflect on the history of the area: Alexander, Gengis Khan, and many other invaders have crossed this land.
