Bertha von Suttner

Bertha was an Austrian-Bohemian pacifist and writer born in 1843. In 1905, she was the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her journalism work which concentrated on war issues and peace, and the second woman to receive any Nobel prize after Marie Curie in 1903. Bertha is considered a leader in the women’s liberation movement.
