Christian cemetery (Nasiriya)

This Christian cemetery had its last burial in 1999, at which point the cemetery was almost full and the Christian community in the village was in terminal decline anyhow.

Christians however do still visit and burn the weeds in summer. At graves, they burn oil lamps with herbs, a uniquely Yezidi tradition. This is an unusual interfaith mingling of traditions.
