Services are pending at Ekman-Unger Mortuary for Philander B. Adams, 70, who died Friday. He had been a Silverton resident for about two years.
He was a retired carpenter and came to Silverton from California. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Summer of Silverton.
INFANT DIES SUDDENLY
After a few hours illness from membraneous croup, Mallie, the little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Okey Westfall, died at their home on Woodwords branch, yesterday. The funeral will be held tomorrow and burial will be made in the Spicer-Fisher cemetery.
BODY IS FOUND BY FISHERMAN
Westfall, Who Leaped Off Patrick Street Span, Is Held Suicide
The body of Mansford Westfall, 23 years old, who leaped into the Kanawha river from the Patrick Street bridge on the night of May 25, Monday was at the home of his mother, Mrs. Okey Westfall, of Slip Hill, awaiting burial.
His body was recovered Sunday by J. G. Corns, of Iowa street, at stop No. 3 on the Dunbar line. The place where the body was recovered is several hundred yards below the Patrick Street bridge.
Corns, who was fishing along the river bank, saw Westfall's body floating in the water. He got some of his fishing line around it, according to Coroner James E. Roberts, and pulled it into bank. He then telephoned firemen, who pulled the body out of the water.
Coroner Roberts returned a formal verdict of suicide.
The body was removed to the Johnson funeral home and later to the home of his mother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the residence. Burial was to be in the Fisher cemetery.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mrs. Gay Westfall; six sisters, Mrs. Tavy Guthrie, Mrs. Belva Lilly, Mrs. Mildred Pauley, Mrs. Bernice Newhouse, Miss Beatrice Westfall and Miss Izora Westfall, all of near Charleston; and three brothers, Errnest, Eugene and Edward Westfall, all of near Charleston.
Westfall plunged from the Patrick Street bridge while he was in the company of Otho Board, of the Lock Six road. He left behind a suicide note, his cap and a pocket knife.
