“Through creativity I try to spread the plight of the Kurdish people as often as possible but also as a way to shine a light on the beautiful, vibrant, resilient culture of the Kurds. Nothing inspires me more and the very least I can do is to help bring awareness and shine light upon all the warriors, the men and women on the front lines fighting darkness, the ones who use their pens and paintbrushes to depict the heartbreaking facts that is reality, and the voices that tell the rest of the world to wake up.
"Initially my jewelry collection started out as sketches of jewelry I wish I owned, jewelry that I wish existed in the world. The modern twist I wanted to bring to the evil eye was something that was hard to find a few years ago and was nearly impossible to find any cultural jewelry in Texas (where I grew up) in the 90s and 2000s and so it was something that I wanted to create myself. The symbolism behind the eye is and was something that I (along with so many, especially ones with roots in the SWANA region) related to heavily and something that my mother, aunts, grandmother spoke about casually all the time while I was growing up. It was a symbol of the culture and has levels and levels of tradition attached to it. I have been very blessed with the organic growth of my brand and am hopeful for it’s future and excited to see how it evolves. Through it I have met so many inspiring people, women especially, who motivate and drive me because of their voices and strengths and talents. I always say that my favorite thing about my brand is all the people I have met through it and for that I am grateful. “
