Seivan is a photographer, photojournalist, and photography educator in Erbil. She has been presented in National Geographic, Le Monde, The Guardian, Washington Post, Associated Press, Daily Beast, Sunday Times, and Daily Mail. Her work has been exhibited in Geneva, Prague, Ljubljana (Slovenia), and at the UN headquarters in New York.

She has worked on several projects with humanitarian agencies, among them UNESCO and UNICEF, and has worked for Associated Press and Rudaw Kurdish TV as war zone photographer. Seivan has also given photography workshops for young women and children at the IDP camps in the region. Her most outstanding work has been of the Ezidi women who were victims of ISIS, and most recently an interpretation of "Spirit of '76" about Kurdistan.

Seivan M. Salim Seivan Salim is a photographer, photojournalist, and photography educator from Duhok in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Born in Duhok but spend most of her life as refugee in Iran. Educated in Psychology from Guilan University, Iran 2001 and diploma in Photography from Youth Cinema Society, Rasht, Iran 2009. Upon her return to Kurdistan in 2012 Seivan began work with Rudaw for two years. She then continued as freelance photographer, working for a year with Associated Press Agency, and then on several projects with humanitarian agencies, among them UNESCO, UNISEF, UNFPA, War Child, and The Lutheran World Federation. She has been photography Trainer for IDP Yazidi girls in Dohuk. Seivan has been presented in top international publications, among them National Geographic, Le Monde, The Guardian, Daily Beast, Sunday Times, and Daily Mail. Seivan’s most outstanding body of work entitled “Escaped” on the rescued Yazidi women, has been exhibited in Geneva, Prague, Ljubljana, a three-month-long exhibition at the UN headquarters in New York for two consecutive years, and most recently in Kurdistan in Barzani National Memorial in Barzan and the Institut Francais in Erbil. Her other photo projects include "Pet Lovers’ exhibition" in Erbil in 2019 with the aim to promote animal protection in Kurdistan, and the Kurdistan version of America’s spirit of 1776, entitled "Kurdistan: Path to Liberty." Info: With a mission to deliver impactful human stories through the still image, one of the more challenging aspects of her work is bringing the stories of gender-based violence survivors to light while safeguarding their safety and dignity. Seivan Salim bears considerable responsibility when it comes to reporting on gender-based violence, and adheres to rigid ethical guidelines designed to ensure that the stories, photographs and quotations she publishes not only highlight the plight of women and girls but also avoid causing them harm in the process. Seivan has spent years documenting the human rights abuses inflicted upon women and girls in humanitarian settings. Seivan’s work has not only helped countless survivors share their stories with the world, but has also served as a solid example of ethical and empathic reporting that places the wellbeing of survivors at the forefront of the reporting process. Since the fall of Shingal into ISIS’ hands, Seivan has been actively working to bring the stories of Yazidi women and girls to light with the aim to underscore their needs and accelerate the efforts of the international community to address them.
