Jane Austen

Born in 1775, Jane was a renowned English novelist. She is most known for Sense and Sensibility (1811) and Pride and Prejudice (1813). Jane’s novels often investigated the dependence of women on a marriage partner in pursuit of social standing and economic security. Jane gained renown for her critique of sensibility in the 18th century, before transitioning to literary realism in the 19th century.
