Mary Anderson

Mary Anderson (1866-1953) was a businesswoman and influential inventory She already had found success in real estate and ranching by 1902, when she visited New York City and noticed the driver on a trolley car had to open the front window to see through the falling sleet. When she returned to Alabama, she set to work conceiving a solution. She invented the first effective windshield wiper using a rubber blade controlled by a lever inside the vehicle.
