Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Chimamanda, born in 1977 is a Nigerian novelist who has attracted a new generation of readers to African literature. At 19 she moved to the US to study at Drexel University in Philadelphia. For the first time in her life she realized what it meant to be confronted as a person of color and how to deal with the issue of race.

Chimamanda went on to complete a master’s degree in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins University in 2003 and a master’s degree in African Studies from Yale in 2008. As an accomplished writer winning many awards, she writes about issues in both the America and Nigeria. Chimamanda held a TED Talk in 2009 on her book, “The Danger of a Single Story” which has become one of the top 10 most viewed TED talks of all times with more than 15 million views.
